Music Update
Music Update from Ms. Mandin:
I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and enjoyed the holidays! December was a fantastic month in our music class, with students working hard to learn new skills for the upcoming year. In December, our grade 3 and 4 students began to learn about instrumental improvisation. We read "Feathers for Lunch" by Lois Ehlert and used the names of different bird species included in the story to create rhythmic patterns. Then, students learned a simple pentatonic scale on the xylophones to help them compose their own original improvisations. We enjoyed experimenting with different melodies and sharing our creations with each other.
