This week, we have been practicing writing summaries. It is hard to take an entire chapter book and synthesize it down to just a few important events. But, we have done it for Wonder and Wish Tree (our class read alouds this year). We know that a good summary includes: - the book title
- the author's name, and illustrator
- the name of the main character
- the name(s) of other important characters who appear a lot in the book
- the setting (where/when the story takes place)
- the main problem
- a cliffhanger that makes people want to read the story
We are NOT telling people the ending.
(For our Book Talk, we are allowed to use more than 5 sentences). Check the Book Talk expectation sheet that was sent home and is posted in the Google Classroom for more help.
