Angles & Art

In Math these past two weeks with Ms Elder, we have been learning about angles. We know there are four types of angles:
  • right = 90 degrees
  • obtuse = 90 degrees - 180 degrees
  • acute = 0 degrees - 90 degrees
  • reflex = 180 degrees - 360 degrees
We learned how to use a protractor to measure angles.

We also learned how to sort triangles according to their angles and side length:

Angles
  • right = a triangle with one right angle
  • acute = a triangle with all acute angles
  • obtuse = a triangle with one obtuse angle
Side Length
  • equilateral = all equal sides
  • isosceles = two sides are the same length
  • scalene = all sides are different lengths

Ms Elder showed us examples of artwork by the Russian painter Kandinsky. We learned a bit about his life by reading the book, The Noisy Paintbox by Barb Rosenstock. We created inspired artwork that included our understanding of angles. Check out some examples below!
