Intro to Multiplication
In Math with Ms Elder, we have started exploring Multiplication. We looked at the Multiplication Table to find patterns.
For example, for the 2's times table, we know that the pattern in the tens place goes: 0,0,0,0,0,1,1,1,1,1... In the ones place, it goes: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8... We also know that every product that is a multiple of 2 is even.
For the 5's times table, in the ones place, the pattern goes: 5, 0, 5, 0, 5, 0... In the tens place, the pattern goes: 0, 0, 1, 1, 2, 2,... The multiples of 5 have a pattern, as well: odd, even, odd, even...
Ms Elder put us in teams and we are making posters for each times table up to 12 (because in Grade 4, we have to memorize our facts up to 12 x 12).
