Descriptive (Sensory) Writing

 What makes our writing exciting? What makes others want to read it? What can make them feel like they are right there?

Description!

Together, we have learned to engage the senses in our writing. Through this we have also taken on word choice. What adjectives, verbs and adverbs can add even more interest? Is something 'big?' No way! It's 'huge,' 'enormous,' or 'gigantic!'

The following are paragraphs we wrote together as a class, with students contributing and building off one another. We hope you'll agree that they are so well written they could appear in any published book!
